Frequently asked questions

Yes. Ketamine has been an approved medication in Germany for decades, primarily for anesthesia and pain therapy. Its use for depression, trauma and related indications is off-label. That means an approved medication is being used outside its original licensing, under medical responsibility and after careful individual assessment. This approach is well established in the medical community, scientifically well studied and standard practice in specialized centers worldwide.

Not as a rule. Ketamine-assisted therapy is a private-pay service. We discuss the costs transparently during the initial consultation.

No, not in a therapeutic setting. The risk of dependence arises with uncontrolled, frequent use, not with physician-supervised sessions at defined intervals.

You are continuously accompanied 1:1 by a physician. Monitoring, safety tools and immediate intervention are available at all times. An important advantage of intravenous administration: ketamine takes effect within minutes and is metabolized just as quickly. The effect can be steered precisely throughout the session, gently tapered or, if needed, deepened. At any time, under medical supervision.

In cases of active psychosis, uncontrolled heart disease, schizophrenia, pregnancy or acute substance use disorder, ketamine is not the right choice. We clarify this in the preliminary consultation.
